Indian benchmark indices traded with minor gains in the afternoon trade on March 19. Nifty jumped above the 22900 level. While shares of Realty, PSU Bank, and consumer durables advanced, IT and FMCG declined.
As of 1:30 pm, S&P BSE Sensex went up by 188.78 points or 0.26% to 75,498.47. Nifty 50 scaled up by 0.34% to 22,912.55. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index rose 2.09%, and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index added 1.88%
India VIX surged by 1.30% to 13.38.
Among the top gainers in the Nifty, Shriram Finance, HDFC Life Insurance Company, Power Grid Corporation of India and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise went by 4.54%, 3.27%, 2.53% and 2.43% respectively, while Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Infosys and HCL Technologies declined by 2.04%, 2.00%, 1.66% and 1.59% respectively.
Stocks to watch
UltraTech Cement soared by 1.65% after the company started operating its new capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) at its Hirmi plant, Chhattisgarh, and Roorkee unit, Uttarakhand.
GR Infraprojects went up by 9.93% after the company received a letter of acceptance (LoA) from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for a highway project worth ₹ 4,262.78 crore.
Capri Global Capital went up by 3.04% after its subsidiary Capri Loans Car Platform (CLCPPL), partnered with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to drive skill development and employment opportunities.
